William Louis Brightwell, age 93, of LaBelle, MO, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014, in the LaBelle Manor Care Nursing Home in LaBelle.
He was born March 14, 1921, in LaBelle, MO, the son of Cliff Thomas and Esther Pettit Brightwell. He was united in marriage to Carlene Harvey on January 14, 1951 in LaBelle, MO and she preceded him in death on June 17, 1983. To this union two children were born Carl and Margaret. On December 14, 1984, in LaBelle, MO, he was united in marriage to Norma Clara Margarite Stice and she preceded him in death on June 10, 2003.
Bill was also preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are two children, Carl Brightwell and wife Rose Ann of LaBelle, MO, and Margaret Burke of Arizona, six grandchildren, Julie (Weston) Henry and of Kansas City, MO, Chad (Morgan) Burke of Buckeye, AZ, Amanda (Scott) Smith of Quincy, IL, Amy (Derek) Johnson of Lewistown, MO, Rebecca (Nathan) Cross of Macon, MO, and Casey (Norm) Strickland of LaBelle, MO, great grandchildren Kelly Robinson of Kansas City, MO, Alex and James Burke of Buckeye, AZ, Victoria and Maximus Smith of Quincy, IL, Brighton Johnson of Lewistown, MO, Christian and Ayden Strickland of LaBelle, MO.
Bill received his education in Lewis County and graduated from LaBelle High School. He resided in Rogersville, MO for seven years where he was employed as a carpenter. Bill returned to the LaBelle area after his retirement where he was engaged in farming. Bill was a member of the LaBelle Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at the LaBelle Cemetery. Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate the services.
Casket bearers will be Scott Smith, Derek Johnson, Nathan Cross, Norm Strickland, Weston Henry, Chad Burke.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 1 p.m. till time of services at 2 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO.
