William Leo (Bill) Berberet, age 88, of Edina, MO, passed away Thursday evening October 2, 2014, at his home in Edina.
He was born February 16, 1926, at Edina, MO, the son of Leo Francis and Gertrude F. Geising Berberet.
He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Waggener on February 24, 1973, in Edina, MO.
Surviving are his wife Ruth Ann Berberet of Edina, MO, one daughter Linda Sue Howald and husband Alan of Moberly, MO and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Jane McEvoy.
Bill received his education at St. Joseph Catholic School in Edina. He served his country in the United States Army Air Force as an Airplane Armorer Gunner from 1944 to 1946.
Bill lived in Knox County where he received his education. He was employed with Kelly's Furniture, Leon Karhoff Construction, Douglas Air Craft in Tulsa, OK, Gillaspy & Kincaid John Deere, Sydenstricker John Deere and Knox County Soil & Water District. Bill was always busy. He enjoyed woodworking, lawn and car care and talking to family and friends. Bill was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, MO. Father Joseph Hoi will officiate the services. Burial with full Military Honors will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Edina, MO.
Music will be provided by Nancy Reardon, organist and Brent Karhoff, soloist.
Casket bearers will be Dud Gillaspy, Clay Marshall, Randy Doss, Randy Parton, John Bode and Jack Reardon.
Honorary bearers will be Romie Kriegshauser, Jerome Kurth, Alvie Parrish, Howard Florea, Don Kutcher, Kirk Strange, Jim Willier and St. Joseph Knights of Columbus Members.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014, with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. A Prayer service will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
