Virginia E. Holman, age 89 of Hurdland, MO, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, in the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, MO.
She was born October 22, 1926, near Gorin, MO, the daughter of Jacob Axel and Nancy Price Peterson. She was united in marriage to Harry Holman, on august 16, 1944, at Luray, MO.
Surviving are her husband Harry Holman of Hurdland, MO, one son Jerry Holman and wife Frances of Edina, MO, grandchildren Brandon L. Holman, Jeremy (Karie) Holman and children Jace, James and Joellyn Holman, Joseph (Krista) Holman and children Chase Holman (Deceased) Jaron, Jazzalynn and Jericka Holman, Melissa (Daryl) Doty and children Madelynn, Jack, and Molly Doty, one sister Mary Margaret Lingenfelter and husband Robert of Hurdland, MO, three brothers, Victor Peterson and wife Betty of Hurdland, MO, David Peterson and wife Carol of Moline, IL,, and J.B. Peterson and wife Mary of Springfield, MO, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers John William and Jacob Peterson, and one grandson Chase Holman.
Virginia received her education at Knox City, MO. She and her husband resided in Hurdland, MO most of their life where they operated a grocery, feed and fertilizer store and a truck line. For over thirty years she was employed at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina as a Med Tech. She was a member of the Hurdland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and collecting bells.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Nancy Douglas will officiate the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.
Music will be provided by Mary Peterson and Angela Haworth.
Casket bearers will be Jeremy Holman, Brandon Holman, Ronnie Peterson, Danny Peterson, Jaron Holman and Joseph Holman.
Honorary bearers will be Buddy Funk, Larry Sykes, Glen Moots, Jim Hamlin and Jace Holman
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 15, 2016, after 4 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
