Venus Elizebeth Fisher, age 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of LaBelle, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010, in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born March 2, 1922, in Lewis County, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Laura Garr Fisher.
Surviving are one daughter Carolyn Graves and husband Donald of Grandview, Missouri, four grandchildren, Donald Graves II, Angela Cheatem and husband Mario, Larence Graves and wife Sara, and Elizabeth Brown and husband Paul, eight great grandchildren, one niece Laura Fisher of Las Vegas, Nevada, one nephew Clarence Fisher of San Antonio, Texas, and several cousins.
Venus was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Clarence (Bo) Fisher.
Venus was born and raised at LaBelle, Missouri, where she received her education. She resided in LaBelle until 1974 when she moved to Kansas City due to her health. While in LaBelle she was a homemaker and also cared for her father. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a member of the Church Choir when she was younger. She later became a member of the St. Stephens Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church at LaBelle, Missouri. Pastor James Salter will officiate the services with Pastor Donald Graves assisting.
Casket bearers will be Donald Graves II, Larence Graves, Mario Cheatem, Paul Brown, Donald Graves III, and Robert Anderson II.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, till time of services at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Services will be under the direction of the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri.
Memorials in memory of Venus Fisher may be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, Missouri, 63447.
