Vadah Belle Norton, age 100, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009, in the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. She was born September 21, 1908, in the Kenwood area near Hurdland, Missouri, the daughter of Melvin H. and Gracie Belle Hubble Matticks. She was united in marriage to Johnnie Lee Norton on October 1, 1927, at LaBelle, Missouri and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Helen M. Turpin and four brothers, Ivan, Harry, Elza and W.O. "Mike" Matticks and two grandson Jerry Ray Davis, Mickey Gene Davis. Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Goodwin of Edina, Missouri, one son, J.V. Norton and wife Joyce Ann of Knox City, Missouri, six grandchildren Richard E. Davis and wife Amy, Clifford Lee Davis and wife Susie, Ricky Royal Davis, Jeffrey V. Norton and wife Penny, Jacqueline Ann Holland and husband Allan and Joan Annette Dale and husband Donnie, twenty three great-grandchildren, twenty great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Vadah was raised in the Kenwood area near Hurdland where she attended schools. She and her husband were engaged in farming in the Knox City area, she was employed at the telephone office in Knox City and was employed at the Burnham Glove Factory in Edina for twenty years. She was a member of the Knox City Baptist Church, a member of the W.M.U., a member of the extension club, the Community Searchlite Club for over fifty years. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Ernest Deatrick will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Mike and Doug Wilson, vocalist, and Carol Hayes organist. Musical selections will be "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow", "In A Land Where We Never Grow Old" and "Supper Time". Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her great grandsons, Austin Holland, J. Ryan Norton, Timothy Davis, Dusty Davis, Adam Davis, Jerry Davis, Jon Davis and Christopher Davis. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
