Thomas W. Hirner, 84, of Edina, MO passed away peacefully at the Knox County Nursing Home on Saturday, July 5th, 2025.
Tom was born on July 21, 1940 in Hannibal, MO, a son of Joseph Paul and Lorine (Mudd) Hirner. He attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary and graduated from McCooey High School.
On June 25th 1989, Tom married Linda (Lawson) Kriegshauser at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, and he was granted the new title of "Grandpa Tom", something he cherished throughout his life. Linda preceded him in death on May 27, 1995.
Tom worked several jobs in the millwright field as well as working as an assistant in various nursing homes and lastly as a custodian.
Tom was a devoted member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, where he worked to ensure that everything was prepared for weekday masses. On Sunday mornings he rang the church bells in the steeple to let the parishioners know that church was about to begin.
Tom enjoyed attending family events, eating at the Nutrition Site, collecting Native American artifacts, singing with the Senior Stars band, traveling, and wood working.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Dicky) Bowen, son Tony (Teresa) Kriegshauser, son Thomas (Amber) Kriegshauser as well as grandchildren: Katelyn (fiancée Brian Fohey) Gibson, Erica (Patrick) Parker, Jamie Hamilton, Shawna (Andy) Bliss, Kerstyn Kriegshauser, Liam Kriegshauser, Bre Kriegshauser, Richard (Salli) Bowen, Tim (Jess) Bowen, sister-in-law Marilyn Goodwin and brother-in-law Eugene Fodness and several great grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda, brother Robert Hirner and sister Elizabeth "Betty" Thomas, mother and father-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Lawson, sisters-in-law Suzanne Lawson and Bard Fodness, brothers-in-law Robert Lawson and Tom Lawson.
A Prayer Service will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, MO on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Officiating the services will be Reverend Mr. Kenneth Berry. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Music will be provided by Nancy Reardon, Brent Karhoff and Kyle Clark..
