Obituary

Sylvester James Rudd, age 88, of Knox City, MO, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015, in LaBelle Manor Care in LaBelle, MO.
He was born February 23, 1927, near Newark, MO the son of Joseph Morton and Lula Elizabeth McKenzie Rudd.
He was united in marriage to Gracia Lucille Martin on July 8, 1952, in Kirksville, MO, and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2003. James was also preceded in death by his parents, five sisters Estyle Klocke, Beulah Campbell, Evia Hall, Dortha Minor and Elizabeth Bradley, two brothers JM Rudd and Elmo Rudd and one grandson James Raymond (J.R.) Rudd.
Surviving are one son Wayne Edward Rudd and wife Debbie of Knox City, MO, two grandchildren, Craig Rudd and wife Shannon of Knox City, MO and Ashley Simmons and husband Justin of Ewing, MO, six great grandchildren, Brittney Rudd, Claire, Wyatt and Zoey Simmons, Gage and Lucy Rudd, one step great grandchild Wyatt Vargas.
James was raised near Newark, MO where he attended rural schools and graduated from LaBelle High School. He was engaged in farming Northeast of Knox City, MO and owned and operated Rudd's Garage in Knox City. James served as Alderman and Mayor of Knox City, MO and also served on the board at Knox County Mutual Insurance for several years.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2015, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Mike Wilson will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery.
Musical selections will be Daddy's Hands, Go Rest High On That Mountain and How Great Thou Art.
Casket bearers will be Darrell Rudd, Dennis Bradley, Mike Miller, Larry Walker, Craig Rudd and Justin Simmons.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 31, 2015, after 9 a.m. with family receiving friends from 12 noon till time of services at 2 p.m. in Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
