Obituary

Stella Bennett (Parcell) Douglass, age 90, left this earthly world Friday, November 29, 2013, at Ozark Rehab and Health Care in Osage Beach, MO.
She was born November 18, 1923, in Blackwater, MO, the daughter of Robert Harrison and Anna Jeanette Thomas Bennett.
She was adopted, along with her brother Roy Bennett Parcell, at an early age by Claude John and E. Delle Nicol Parcell of the Mt. Carmel community southwest of Edina, MO.
She was united in marriage to Arthur A. Douglass, Jr. on March 10, 1946, in Kirksville, MO. They farmed for many years south of Edina until moving to Davenport, Iowa in 1996.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Mrs. William) Sandknop of Camdenton, MO, two sons Wynn (Cimi) Douglass of Atlanta, GA, and Byron (Stephanie) Douglass of Weatherford, TX, grandchildren Derek (Jenny), Sarah Tietge, Nick, Mike, Heather, and Tori Sandknop, Rachel Mowrey (Bryan), Joshua (Michelle), Ty and Keely Douglass, and Andrea (David) Coffman, great-grandchildren Lindsey, Kade, Emma, Megan, Ashley, Austin, Dawson, Payten, Karma, Scottie, Charlie, Jack, and Stella Sandknop, Ella, Simon and Josie Rose Mowrey.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one great grandson Douglass Tietge, and two brothers Roy and Bill Parcell.
Stella was past Matron of Matilda Chapter # 411 Order of the Eastern Star of Edina, MO, past secretary Knox County Historical Society, member of Mt. Carmel Extension Club, past president of Knox Co. Extension Club Council, secretary of Knox Co. Extension Board, president of Mt. Carmel Cemetery Association, past president of Linville Mausoleum board and member of the Cockrum Cemetery board, a 4-H leader for several years receiving the Motter Leader Award in 1968.
She was an avid bowler receiving several awards and trophies. Stella was also known for her oil painting and wood burnings, but best known by her family for her "Cowboy Cookies".
Visitation will be held at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013, with Eastern Star Services being held at 5:45 p.m. by Matilda Chapter # 411 O.E.S.
There will be no services, burial will be held at a later date in the Linville Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Stella Bennett Douglass may be made to Linville Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
