Russell Franklin Turpin, 88, formerly of Edina, Missouri, passed away on December 18, 2025 at Baptist Homes Nursing Home in Shelbina, Missouri.
Russell was born February 19, 1937 in Lewistown, Missouri, the son of Omer D and Emma Spath Turpin. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Hurdland High School, Class of 1955. He served in the United States Army Reserve.
He married Mary Lucille Wheeler on September 6, 1958. To this union, one son was born, Lewis Turpin.
On November 22, 1986, he married Charlotte K. Spence; she preceded him in death on November 2, 1998.
He married Beulah Mauck Turpin on March 15, 2005. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2022.
He is survived by his son Lewis Turpin, one grandson Wesley Turpin, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, sister Mildred (Ted) Bogener, and one sister-in-law, Mildred Hamlin, step-daughters Judy (Harley) Hamlin, Patty (Larry) Klocke, Billie Lou (Phil) Johnson, and Eileen (Steve “Dober”) Miller, 16 step-grandchildren, 36 step-great-grandchildren, and 9 step-great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, one step son Lloyd Craig mauck, siblings Vern, William, Wilbur, Harold, and Virgil Turpin, Geneva Marty, Opal Zell, Erma Wilkinson, Anna Marie Wiss, and a twin sister in infancy, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Walter Marty, Helen Turpin, Bernard Wiss, Aurolyn B. Turpin, Rose Turpin, Dick Zell, Bill Wilkerson, and a step-grandson, Kent Johnson.
Russell was an over the road truck driver, driving from coast to coast. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and employed by Transcon Lines. Before retiring, he received a 2 Million Miler belt buckle from Transcon Lines.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving fast cars. He was a big fan of the Knox County Eagles, NASCAR, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Per his wishes there will be no funeral and a private burial will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Edina Cancer Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
