Rue L. Evans Myers, age 86 of Lewistown, MO, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012, in the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, MO.
She was born February 26, 1926, in Plainville, IL, the daughter of P.L. and Ruth Hittner Fusselman. She was married to Glenn E. Evans on June 30, 1946, at Pittsfield, IL, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1963. She married Cecil Myers on September 17, 1977, and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1987. Surviving are three daughters, Joyce (Roger) Turpin and Pam Sly and friend Bud Davis of LaBelle, MO, and Glenda Sparrow of Lewistown, MO, eight grandchildren, Stacey Turpin, Brian (Lelsie) Smith, John (Laura) Sly, Matt (Samantha) Sly and Christy Garrett, Chrystal (Matt) Walden, Aaron (Ashlee) Lay, Evan (Kyndra) Lay, twenty great grandchildren, Dillion, Lane, Justice, Dominic, Dalton, Brenna, Jeffrey, Jake, Sadie, Addie and Izzy, Brett, Brock and Hannah, Aden, Gregory, Matt, Zander, Sterling and Silver, one sister Evelyn Fusselman of Quincy, IL, an aunt Margaret Hittner of Pittsfield, IL, one brother-in-law, Bill Oakman of Camp Point, IL, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Richard and Dorothy Gumc of Bethel.
She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1944. She was a housewife, homemaker and farmer. She liked crocheting afghans, embroidery, and writing poems. She received a few awards for her poems but she never had them published. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her grandchildren and family get togethers.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Reverend Lance Bonnell will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Camp Point, IL. Musical selections will be How Can I Help You Say Goodbye, Tears In Heaven and Amazing Grace.
Casket bearers will be Brian Smith, Aaron Lay, Evan Lay, Matt Sly, Richard Gumc and Matt Walden. Honorary bearers will be Cecil Morrow, Elvin Parrish, David Hatfield, Delbert Myers, Dorothy Gumc and Rodney Freeman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012, after 4 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO.
