Rose Bernice Turpin, age 84, of LaBelle, MO, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012, in the Country Aire Retirement Estates at Lewistown, MO.
She was born at Fairmont, MO, on July 10, 1928, the daughter of Oakney and Grace Sawyer Thompson. She was united in marriage to Virgil M. Turpin on August 18, 1948, at Hannibal, MO and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2005. Rose was also preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter Maria Turpin, one sister Lorene Ballew and one brother Hubert Thompson.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Turpin and wife Neysa of Coatsburg, IL, Rick Turpin and wife Kathy of Weatherby, MO, two daughters Linda Eisenberg and husband Ron of Durham, MO, Virgie Dawson and husband Larry of Steffenville, MO, seven grandchildren, Melissa Klocke and husband Brett, Sheila Benson and husband Kevin, Angel Solak, Jennifer Turpin, Leann Gudenkauf and husband Jason, Andrew Turpin, Jason Turpin and wife Michele, seven great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaitlin, Kyle, Jacob, Braedon, Hayley and MacKenzie,thirteen step grandchildren, twelve step great grandchildren, one niece Wanda Garrison and husband Harold of Wyaconda, MO and one nephew Billy Thompson of Burlington, IA. Rose received her education at Fairmont, MO. She was a housewife and homemaker and lived most of her life in LaBelle. She worked at Walker's Grocery Store in LaBelle and cleaned houses for several years. Rose attended the First Christian Church of LaBelle. She and her husband enjoyed camping and later after her grandchildren were grown they enjoyed taking them with them and taking care of them in their home. She also enjoyed attending the Golden Age Games in Hannibal and helping the ladies at the LaBelle Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Chaplin Carol Davenport will officiate the services. Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be grandchildren. Honorary bearer will be John Runyon.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO.
