Pearl Brown Baker, age 87 of Knox City, Missouri died Monday, August 31, 2009, at her home. She was born December 19, 1921, to Edward S. Brown and Rebecca Estelle Ellen (Arment) Brown. On June 1, 1941, she married Clarence F. Baker and they celebrated their 59th anniversary in 2000. He preceded her in death November 22, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Lavanta May Bledsoe, Ruby Edith Clair and Estelene Rebecca Harper and a son, Darrel Wayne Baker on June 10, 1983. Surviving are son Kenneth C. Baker and wife Maria of Durham, and a daughter Jeanie Anderson and husband Eddie of Edina; four grandchildren, Kevin Baker and wife Chris of Durham; Bill Baker and Julianna Marie Rathburn of Durham; Susan Bel and husband Robert of Springfield and Sarah Anderson of Edina; Six great-grandchildren: Kourtni and Kyli Baker, Devon, Hannah and Zoey Baker and Taylor Bel. Also surviving are brothers-in-law: Norval Bledsoe, Lawrence Baker, Glen Baker and David Baker; Sisters-in-law: Mabel Burt and Lorena Fleak along with several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are cousins, Elmer Brown and Viola Prebe of Edina and David Baker of Shelbina. Pearl attended Bishop School and graduated from Edina High School. Clarence and Pearl were involved in agriculture all their life. They grew crops and raised livestock on their farm northeast of Knox City. She was a member of the Edina Assembly of God Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher in the Nursery Class. She was a charter member of Cyril A. Graham American Legion Auxiliary Unit 261 of Edina. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Officiating the services will be Reverend Robert Stephens. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery. Music will be provided by Debbie Peters, Audrey Hamlin and LeAnn Hamlin, vocalist, and Roslyn Baker, organist. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Edina American Legion Auxiliary or the Edina Assembly of God Church. Memorial may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, Missouri, 63537.
