Patrick Gibbons, Jr., age 77 of Edina, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
He was born February 8, 1934, at Edina, Missouri, the son of Patrick Henry and Josephine Weber Gibbons.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Helen Reardon at Baring, Missouri on June 7, 1958. Pat was raised in Knox County where he received his education. He was engaged in farming his entire life south of Edina. Pat served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1957. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Pat was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Edina, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife Dorothy Helen Gibbons of Edina, Missouri, six children, Mike Gibbons and wife Lesa of Columbia, Missouri, Mark Gibbons of Edina, Missouri, Tom Gibbons and wife Julie of Edina, Missouri, Tim Gibbons and wife Debbie of Shelbyville, Missouri, Danny Gibbons and wife Kim of Edina, Missouri, Kim Cardwell and husband Leslie of Edina, Missouri, two brothers Charles Gibbons and wife Barb of Edina, Missouri, Paul Gibbons of Fairbanks, Alaska, twelve grandchildren, Shawn, Stephen and Ryan Gibbons, Jeffrey and Megan Gibbons, Bridgett, Breanna and Bryant Gibbons, Patrick and Kaitlin Gibbons, Evan and Bryce Cardwell, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri. Father Joseph Hoi will officiate the services. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Music will be provided by Nancy Reardon, organist and Brent Karhoff, soloist. Musical selections will be "Be Not Afraid", "On Eagles Wings", "Ava Maria, and "Amazing Grace".
Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Shawn Gibbons, Stephen Gibbons, Ryan Gibbons, Jeffrey Gibbons, Bryant Gibbons, Patrick Gibbons, Evan Cardwell and Bryce Cardwell.
Honorary bearers will be his granddaughters, Megan Gibbons, Bridgett Gibbons, Breanna Gibbons and Kaitlin Gibbons.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 21, 2011, after 4 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Funeral Home.
