Orville Dean Miller, age 74, of Knox City, MO passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his residence in Knox City.  He was born December 18, 1949, in Kirksville, MO, the son of Wiley Orville and Lena Belle Brooks Miller.   He was married to Laverne Henry and to this union two children were born Craig and Mike.

Orville graduated from Knox County High School.  He was drafted into the United States Army on May 22, 1969.   Orville was inducted at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, MO and completed 8 weeks of basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.   He served a tour in Vietnam during 1969-1970 with the 101st Airbourne in the CH47 Helicopter Company as a Helicopter repairman.  During this time Orville was awarded the expert in M-16 Rifle, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal with 2 Overseas Bars.   Orville was honorably discharged December 8, 1970.

Orville lived most of his life in the Knox City community where he was a self-employed carpenter.  Orville enjoyed fishing, riding his bikes, building things and spending time with family.   He was a member of the Knox City American Legion.

Surviving are two sons, Craig Miller and Mike Miller both of Knox City, MO, two brothers Gary Lee Miller of Jefferson City, MO, and John Porter Miller of Knox City, MO, one sister Myra Kay (Doug) Stice of Knox City, MO, five grandchildren, Erica and Trey Olson, Hope and Logan Miller, Morgan and Joey Hepler and Hannah Miller, two great grandchildren Lilly Olson and Bennett Hepler, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.  Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 and services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Funeral Home.   Reverend Mike Willson Will officiate the services.  Burial with full Military Honors will be in the East Pleasant Ridge Cemetery north of Edina.

Casket bearers will be Logan Miller, Kevin Miller, Kelly Miller, Terry Miller, John Miller and Tom Dye.

Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.  Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
