Mary Anna Taylor age 73 of Edina, Missouri passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at her home in Edina, MO, surrounded by her family.
The daughter of L. Clyde and R. Laura Browning, she was born November 23, 1938, in Crawford, CO.
Surviving is her son, Martin L. Taylor and his wife, Laura and three pretty nifty grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, and Joshua of Wildwood, MO. Also surviving are her brothers, Jim Browning of Edina, MO and Ed Browning and wife Sharon of Maryville, MO and her sister, Louise Woodward and favorite brother-in-law, Patrick of Overland Park, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bob Browning and sister-in-law Sandra Browning. Mary is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends in the Edina community.
Mary started out in Colorado but spent most of her life in Edina, graduating from Edina Public Schools. She considered nursing school post high school but then married briefly which brought her the joy of living in Germany for awhile and giving birth to her only son, Marty. She put herself through beauty school and opened Mary Ann's Beauty Shop in Edina as an independent business woman for more than 40 years offering customers a friendly smile and a listening ear. She was a strong, determined woman who made the best of being a single parent and appreciated the love and support of her family and friends. Mary was a long-time member of Edina United Methodist Church and a volunteer in the community caring for the needs of others from behind the scenes.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 7, at the Edina United Methodist Church with a family visitation from 2pm-3pm and the celebration of life service beginning at 3:15 with Pastor Sam Smith presiding. A celebration dinner will follow for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be offered in her honor to either the Edina United Methodist church or to the Northeast Hospice Center in Kirksville, MO.
