Marvin Phillip Swenka, age 85 of Lewistown, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born May 26, 1939, in North Liberty, IA, the son of Clarence and Mildred Holup Swenka. He was united in marriage to Margaret Janice Madden on August 25, 1957, in Labelle, MO.
Marvin is survived by bis wife Margaret of Lewistown, MO., four children, Crystal (Thomas) Groff of Lewistown, Laurie Holeton of Cedar Rapids, IA., Kimberly Swenka of Springfield, Il. and Lisa (Randy) Oelberg of Charles City, IA. Also, one brother Edward Swenka of Bar Harbor, MI, and three sisters, Marlene Vontroubek of Cedar Rapids, IA., Marie Scott of Canton MO. and Sharon (Benny) Scott of Williamstown, MO., sister-in-law Mary Barner of Munden, KS., 6 grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and one on the way and several nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Robert Swenka and Creighton Barner and 1 sister Marcy Swenka.
Marvin was a master electrician and plumber. Had his own business starting in the 1960's, Swenka Excavating, which he ran for over 40 years. He also farmed and raised buffalo for over 10 years. He was involved in many things throughout his life. He did charity work and helped out family and friends when needed. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He thoroughly enjoyed life and there was nothing he couldn't do once he set his mind to it. He will be missed by family and friends.
Marvin is to be cremated, and no services will be held at this time. Burial will be at a later date at Midway Cemetery north of Lewistown, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coder Funeral Home in LaBelle, MO.
