Obituary

Marguerite Frances Richardson, age 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, formerly of rural Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri. She was born February 18, 1921 in Memphis, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth Shelton Anders of Bible Grove, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Cletus B. Richardson on October 26, 1941, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two, sisters, Dorothy Howard and Wilma Faye Day, two brothers, Leland Anders and infant Harold Dean Anders. Surviving are her five daughters, Connie Dyer and husband Harold of West Point, Iowa, Karen Miller and husband Robert of River Falls, Wisconsin, Diana Roth of Tucson, Arizona, Brenda Sayres and husband Ronald of Knox City, Missouri, and Charla Page of Kirksville, Missouri, one sister, Evelyn Bechtel of Burlington, Iowa, two sisters-in-law, Jane Cates and husband Lloyd of Rayville, Missouri, and Velma Snow of LaPlata, Missouri and a brother-in-law, Paul Mitchell and wife Betty of Rayville, Missouri, nine grandchildren, Eric Miller, Amber Wildgoose and husband Chris, Andrea Miller and Chad Miller, Ian Roth and wife Marcie, Sydney Roth Wang and husband Adam, Derek Sayres and fiancée Lorin, Marquita Sayres and Chandler Page, one step-grandson, Greg Dyer and wife Michele, six great grandchildren, Vincent, Siena and Paulo Miller, Alexis and Gavin Sayres, Issa Wang, three step great-grandchildren Jessica, Josephine and Jayme Dyer, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marguerite was raised in the Bible Grove area where she received her education graduating from Bible Grove High School in 1938. Marguerite was a loving mother and proud homemaker.
Together she and Cletus operated a farm near Baring and Edina, Missouri for over fifty-five years, until retiring in 1999 and moving to Kirksville, Missouri. She was an active member of the Kenwood Boosters Extension Club for over thirty years. She enjoyed designing and sewing clothes for her five daughters, gardening, quilting and crafts and especially playing cards and attending dances with friends. She was, for many years, a member of the Bible Grove Christian Church and Baring Community Church, the Baring Country Club, the Baring American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and more recently the Kirksville Senior Circle. Marguerite mostly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Friday, January 16, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 11 a.m. till 12 noon on Friday, at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Kirksville.
Officiating the services will be Reverend Dan Todd.
Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens. A lunch will be held following the services, for family and friends at 1 p.m. in the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Family Center.
