Mrs. Margaret A. Vannaken, age 71, of La Grange, MO passed away Sunday morning, June 29, 2014 at her home in La Grange.

She was born June 8, 1943 in Green City, MO a daughter of Earl Rudolph and Geneva Marie Bartlett Hopkins. She married Darrell DeWayne Vannaken on March 28, 1970 in Edina, MO. He died April 11, 1990.

Margaret was an aide for the Lewis County C-1 School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in La Grange. She was a member of the Little Queen Rebekkah Lodge in LaGrange. She was active in the LaGrange Cub Scouts and is a member of the V.F.W. Auxilary in Palmyra, MO. Participated in the Foster Grandparents and the La Grange Youth Center.

Survivors include her companion Tim Scheinost of La Grange; two sons, Gregory Trujillo of Hannibal, MO and Eric Vannaken of Canton, MO; three brothers, Dick (Marilyn) Hopkins of Edina, Gailand of Altus, OK and James Hopkins of Edina; two sisters, Doris Songer of Sydney, IA and Janice (Steve) Saitta of Omaha, NE; grandsons, Dalton Vannaken of Hannibal, Christian Rhoades, Dillion Trujillo and Gabriel Trujillo all of Hannibal; granddaughters, Amber Lynn and Hannah Vannaken both of Canton; great grandchildren, Issac Rhoades and Amiyah Rhoades both of Hannibal and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter in infancy, brother Larry Hopkins, sister Sarah Smith, sister in law Gwenda Hopkins and brother in law Neal Songer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. Jeff Serafin and Rev. Colby Combs officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Visitation will be held Friday, July 4, 2014 from 2 until 7 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange.

The family suggests memorials be made to the La Grange Youth Center.
