Obituary

Lucille Ann Golden, age 101, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Webster Grove, Missouri passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 2:15 a.m. in Sycamore Healthcare Center in Quincy, Illinois.
She was born September 24, 1908, in LaBelle, Missouri the daughter of Henry and Guyda Martin Golden.
Lucille attended LaBelle Elementary and High School. She was a graduate of University of Missouri in Columbia in 1944, with a degree in education. In 1949, she received her secondary degree from State of Missouri. Later she took classes to keep her degrees up at Washington University in St. Louis, Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, and Linenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri.
Ms. Golden loved to teach. She started teaching in a country school and then taught third grade at Potosi grade school in Missouri. Later she taught Geography, Social Studies, P.E. and she was a school counselor before retiring. She retired in 1974 after 30 years of teaching, from Ritenour School District in Missouri.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Lucille loved to read, do crossword and word search puzzles and she was an avid Cardinals fan. She loved to sit at the window and watch the birds. Lucille and her sister Virginia had traveled throughout Ireland and Spain. In 2010 Ms. Golden moved to Quincy to be close to her family after living by herself all those years.
She is survived by two nieces, Henrietta Wells and her husband Jerry of Quincy and Gerri Schuttler of Florida, four great nieces, two great nephews, eleven great-great nieces and nephews and fifteen great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, Randolph, her sister Virginia and one great niece.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010, in the LaBelle Cemetery with the family officiating. The Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donor's Choice. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, Missouri, 63447.
