Obituary

Louise Ann Barnard, age 69, of Pensacola, FL, formerly of Knox City, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at her daughter and son-in-law's house in Pensacola, FL. She was born December 22, 1941, in Kirksville, MO, the first daughter of Eugene William and Mary Francis Cook Smith. Louise was united in marriage to Duane Rushton Barnard, in Rolla, MO on June 12, 1976. Louise was preceded in death by both her parents and almost all her other immediate family members. Surviving Louise are the following: her husband, Duane: her only daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Aaron Hammonds, of Pensacola, FL; her only sister, Nancy Groom, of Kirksville, MO; her only nephew, Jimmy Tom Groom and his family, of Kirksville, MO; step-daughter, Linda Wentz and family; two other step-children and their families. Louise received her grade school education in Novelty, MO. She then went on to attend Truman State University, where her father, Eugene Smith, taught Physics, achieving her Undergraduate as well as her Masters Degree in teaching. Louise had the great honor of teaching numerous years in Rosevelt Roads Navy Base in Puerto Rico where she was joined by her sister, Nancy for a couple of those years. She was also able to have the amazing opportunity to do some wonderful world traveling before settling into Rolla, MO to teach. There she met and married her husband, Duane Barnard, and had their daughter, Deanna, then finally settled into the old Rudd Place near Newark, MO. Louise finished her full-time teaching career at Knox County High School teaching typing and accounting to junior high school students. In August 1997, Louise moved with her husband and daughter to Pensacola, FL and remained there for approximately twelve years. She and her husband, Duane, moved to Eupora, MS for a few years before coming back to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Louise and her family were members of Plevna Christian Church in Plevna, MO for most of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend David Doctorian will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Newark Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
