Lorene Elizabeth Duggins Woods, age 79, of Edina, MO, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Lorene was born January 24, 1934, in Edina, MO, the daughter of Elmer Cecil (Pete) and Gladys Pauline Anderson Duggins. On February 11, 1950, at Memphis, MO, she was united in marriage to Richard Lowell Woods and he preceded her in death on May 23, 1989. Lorene was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister Marjorie (Marge) Parton, and two brothers Cecil Robert Duggins and Kenneth Duggins.
Lorene is survived by her children; Nancy (Joe) Plowman, Bloomfield, IA, Dick (Sandy) Woods, and Dean Woods all of Edina, MO, and Patty Gaughan of Holt Summitt, MO. Her grandchildren; Nicole (Chad) Torstenson, West Des Moines, IA, Staci (Darin) Eleazarraraz, Macon, MO, Samantha (Jonathan) Moore, Sigourney, IA, Cassie (Nolan) Stewart, Bloomfield, IA, and Sarah (Ryan) Shorthose, Decatur, IL, great grandchildren; Blakelyn and Parker Stewart, Zoie, Sofia and Ava Eleazarraraz, Owen Richard Moore, Aubrey Torstenson and a new baby girl that Lorene had named Elizabeth Grace because by the Grace of God she will be born in July. Lorene is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lorene was raised in Knox County and received her education in Edina schools. She worked at the Edina glove Factory for 37 years. She was active in Red hats and the Knox County Kut-Ups Quilters Clubs in Edina. She loved her family especially when everyone could be at her house together. She was a member of the Edina United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Sam Smith will officiate the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.
Music will be provided by Brent Karhoff, soloist and Carol Hayes, organist. Musical selections will be "In The Garden" and "Old Rugged Cross".
Casket bearers will be Rick Gregory, Paul Frazier, Jim Gibbons, Jonathan Moore, Darin Eleazarraraz and Nolan Stewart. Honorary bearers will be Red Hat Club members.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 12:30 p.m. till time of services at 2 p.m. at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
