Obituary
Loren Sherwood "Turtle" Myers, age 58 of LaBelle, MO passed away, Sunday night, October 12, 2014 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.
Born May 10, 1956 in Omaha, NE he was a son of Marion Sherwood "Pete" and Patricia Ann Barr-Lange Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are a son, Jeremy Sherwood Myers and a grandson, Patrick Sherwood Myers of Tocoma, WA; two sisters: Leslie Danihel of Carson City, NV and Lynette Myers of Tracy, CA; three nephews: Chris Caldwell of NV; and Jeff Rosado and Brian Rosado of CA and many cousins.
Loren attended Pomona High School in Pomona, CA and served his country in the United States Navy for a short time.
Loren enjoyed fishing and camping. His love for camping began when he joined his parents and sisters on what was to become the first of many camping trips at Twin Lakes in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. During his high school years, Loren enjoyed riding dirt bikes with his friends in Pomona. As a young adult one of Loren's passions was hiking in the hills and desert lands surrounding Dayton, Nevada where he would spend many hours searching for arrowheads and reflecting on nature. He found deep pleasure in his solitude, observing the subtle changes of the desert during the seasonal changes. Loren enjoyed music, drawing and woodworking. He specialized in making children's toys. He made many wooden toys for his nephews and for charity.
For the past several years he has resided at the LaBelle Manor Care Center at LaBelle, MO where he was known to everyone as "Turtle".
A graveside service for Loren S. "Turtle" Myers will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Bee Ridge Cemetery, southeast of Edina, MO. At his request he has been cremated. Pastor Sam Smith will officiate the service.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Myers may be made to the Knox County V.F.W. Memorial Post #4822 of Edina, MO or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. The memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
