LOLA NELL CLAPP HATHAWAY
Lola Nell Clapp Hathaway of Dallas died peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 16, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Chuck Hathaway, son Dan Hathaway of Rowlett and wife Jackie, grandsons Jack and Sam; son Jim Hathaway of Rowlett and grandchildren, Nikolette and Erich. She is also survived by her sister Jenella Frissell of Jefferson City, MO and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Clarabel Odom of Tucson, AZ and brother Harold Clapp of LaBelle, MO. Born March 3, 1928 to Ina and Austin Clapp of LaBelle, she was also a descendant of Captain Roger Clapp, one of the early settlers of Boston, MA who arrived in 1630. Her early life was spent on the family farm in LaBelle where she and her siblings commuted to a one-room schoolhouse by horseback. Later, she graduated from the University of Missouri in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City where she met the love of her life, Chuck Hathaway. They married in Kansas City in 1956 and later moved to Dallas where they started their family. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed all aspects of taking care of her family, putting her Home Economics degree to good use. She was an active member of St. Mark Presbyterian Church for 50 years where she enjoyed participating in the Women's Circle and the Gleaners Sunday School class.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Deer Ridge Cemetery in LaBelle, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri.
