(Larry) Lumley
January 11, 1945 – February 23, 2025
Lawrence Robert (Larry) Lumley II, age 80 passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at his residence rural Newark, MO. He was born in Quincy, IL on January 11, 1945, the son of Lawrence Robert Lumley and Edna dean Walter.
Larry married Karen Bragg June 2, 1968 and to this union two children were born Stephanie and Stacie. In 2001 he married Emma McElhoe.
Surviving are his wife Emma Lumley of Newark, MO, two children, Stephanie (Jeff) Hemme of Wooldridge, MO, and Stacie (Bill) Barker of Columbia, MO, three grandchildren, Orie (Aly) Hemme, Noah (Lexi) Hemme and Allie Hemme, one step grandson, Sam (Zara) Barker, two great grandchildren Kade and Chandler Hemme, step children Curtis (Tammy) Claus of Shelbina, MO, Dena (Patrick) Ireland of Hunnewell, MO, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Gary and Eldon Lumley and stepson J.C. Claus.
Larry graduated from Novelty High School in 1963. He served in the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. He was employed at Missouri Department of Transportation in Novelty, Edina and Canton having served as a supervisor. Larry bought a farm in 2003. A dream he always had. He raised cattle, which he had many pets. They would come running to him. He enjoyed petting and talking to them. He also did a lot of row cropping. He loved his dogs. They were by his side always. He was always ready to help a neighbor. He enjoyed time spent with his family watching his grandchildren grow. His hobbies were his classic tractors and toy tractors. He enjoyed tractor pulls and parades. Larry was a member of the Novelty Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and services will follow at 10 a.m.
Officiating the services will be Reverend Reese Blaine. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.
Music will be Amazing Grace and Wind Beneath My Wings.
Casket bearers will be Rob Lumley, Darrell Simmons, Kim Smith, Mike Fox, Billy Mallett and Richard Mauck. Honorary bearers will be Bob Simmons, Joe Simmons and Roger Parton.
Memorials are suggested to Novelty Christian Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
