Obituary

Larry W. Spray age 60 of Bible Grove, Missouri passed away Wednesday evening, July 31, 2013 at Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.
He was born, July 27, 1953 in Kirksville, MO to Alvin Edward and Irene Belle Barnes Spray. On May 27, 1973 he was united in marriage to Fran Anderson and to this union one daughter was born, Kristen. On February 20, 1982 he married Audrey Hartley Davis and to this union she brought three children, to whom he loved and raised as his own.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey of Bible Grove, MO, Chad and wife, Amanda Davis of Donnellson, Iowa, Sherri Davis of Bible Grove, MO and Jeff Davis and friend Ashten Bulechek also of Bible Grove, MO along with eight grandchildren, Calla and Josh, Cassa and Adam, Carra and Nick, Kailee and Tayler Davis and Natasha Barnhart, Cynch and Shaylee Davis; two brothers, Eugene and wife, Lila Spray of Bible Grove, MO and Alvin and wife, Sheri Spray of Keokuk, IA; one sister, Doris and husband, Richard Cullers of Queen City. Sisters and brothers-in-law include, Theresa and Dave Fleming, Terri Hamlin, Jeanne and Floyd Hartley, mother-in-law, Vivian Hartley and Lester McElroy, two great grandchildren, Bronson and Dakotah and a host of loving nieces, nephews and great nephews and nieces and one adopted grandson, the lost lonesome cowboy, Erik Byrn who always called him "Pappy" and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Irene, brother, Allen Dean in infancy, wife, Fran and daughter, Kristen and father-in-law, Harry Hartley.
Larry lived in the Bible Grove community. He was employed driving a pit truck for twenty-five years for Kaser and L&W quarries and the past fifteen years for Douds Stone. Larry enjoyed horses, trail rides, riding, breaking and driving horses. He attended and participated in the Ft. Madison Trail Ride annually. Larry was a very dedicated member of the Bible Grove Saddle Club, where he enjoyed seeing the young and old work and play with their horses. He also enjoyed the Hurdland 4th of July Parade, Antique Fair Parade in Memphis and the Downing Appreciation Days. Judging horse shows at Bible Grove and The Bible Grove Rodeo were also great times for Larry; everyone always got a blue ribbon. He also enjoyed attending horse sales in the area. Larry especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Rev. Larry Smith will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Lon Erwin and Brent Place. Burial will be in the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery at Bible Grove, MO. Casket bearers will be nephews, Shane Witherow, Clayton Miller, Tyson Blessing, Jamie Spray, Ryan Flemming and Cody Hartley. Honorary bearers will be Marcus Stauffer, Mike Stauffer, Mike Hamlin, Daryl Hamlin, Randy Van Niewaal, Gus Kapfer, Erik Byrn, Harold Miller, Colby Sweeter and Ron Kice.
Visistation will be held after 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO with the family receiving friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m..
