Kris Andrew McCarty , age 47, of Hurdland, MO, passed away Friday, June 28th, 2024, in Columbia, MO. Born in Macomb, IL on November 7, 1976, he was raised by Arne and Marilyn Dresslar. On January 1, 1998, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kerra Leann Withrow in Brashear, MO. Residing in Hurdland for most of his life, Kris graduated from Knox County High School in 1995 and was employed at Gene's Small Engines with 24 years of service. Kris was also a dedicated volunteer firefighter for the Hurdland Fire Department, proudly serving over 30 years. He also served as the Mayor of Hurdland until his term ended this past year. Kris enjoyed taking car rides with his wife, Kerra. Their drives were, at times, spur of the moment, where they would travel to see friends to visit, joke and tell stories. Kris didn't know a stranger and would talk to everyone in the room. Kris was also a community volunteer. Whether you saw him coaching town baseball, hauling the Knox County High School band equipment, or cooking tenderloins for the Hurdland 4th of July Celebration or the 4-H Fair, Kris loved his community and would lend a hand wherever he could. The last several years, Kris became an avid cornhole player, playing in local tournaments and playing almost weekly with a group of friends. He took it upon himself to commission cornhole boards with local businesses to assist with hosting tournaments for fundraising events in the area. Kris's greatest enjoyment was spending time with his wife and children, and being Papa to his granddaughter. Full of spunk and life, he will truly be missed!

Surviving are his wife, Kerra, of Hurdland, MO; his five children, daughter Tiffany Womack, of Adams, IL, son Nicholas McCarty of Hurdland, MO, daughter Serena (Jaron) Poor of Novelty, MO, daughter Alana McCarty of Hurdland, MO, and son Joseph McCarty of Hurdland, MO; one granddaughter, Emma Poor of Novelty, MO; his step-father, Arne Dressler, of Fresno, CA; one sister, Beth Cress of Illinois; also several nieces and nephews. Kris was proceeded in death by his biological mother, Kathy Webster, his adopted mother, Marilyn Dressler, and grandparents Ivan and Eva McCarty.
