Judith Ann (Slocum) Myers, age 84, of Memphis MO passed peacefully at her home on October 17, 2024. She was born the daughter of Clancy Ray and Thelma Louise (Branstetter) Slocum on January 12, 1940 in Memphis MO.

Judy graduated from Brashear High School in 1958. She attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College where after earning her 64 hour certificate she moved to Vienna MO and taught 7th & 8th grade as well as elementary music for several years. In 1963 she graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College with her degree in Elementary Education. From

1963-65 she taught 1st grade in Hannibal, MO and from 1965-66 she taught Special Education in Mt Pleasant, IA.

On June 4, 1966, she married Charles W Myers. That year she taught primary Special Education in Bloomfield, IA. In 1970, Judy earned her Masters Degree in Special Education from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College.

Judy quit teaching in 1970 to raise her four children and help Charles on the farm. In 1986 she returned to teaching at Wyaconda for one year in 4 & 5th grades before becoming the Primary Special Education teacher at Scotland Co R1 where she remained until her retirement in 2005.

Judy was a member of the Eastern Star and a lifelong member of the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church west of Greensburg. She spent her spare time volunteering as a Sunday school teacher, director and leader of VBS, a 4-H leader, Girl Scout leader, tutoring students and volunteering at many school activities as well as volunteering with her children during holidays at Aldridge Nursing Home in Memphis. She was a nurturing caregiver for her aunts, parents,

in-laws and elderly neighbors who had no family members living near them. She carted her children, grandchildren and their friends around to various activities, clubs and school functions. She kept an open door for many of her children's friends as her home was directly across from the school and always convenient for those early morning field trips and after school activities.

After she retired, she helped Charles raise cattle and they spent much of their time attending their 9 grandchildren's various recitals, concerts, trap shoots, softball, basketball, football and baseball games. She also enjoyed yearly trips traveling to historical places around the US with her husband and son. Judy encouraged her children and grandchildren to place a high priority on education. All of her grandchildren loved to be read to and it was their favorite pastime with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Richard "Dick" Slocum, her husband of 57 years and her son Charles Wayne Myers II as well as her in-laws, Mike and Ida Myers. She is survived by her daughters Sherri Mauck and Robbie Mauck, Chari Bemis (Travis) and Melanie Irizarry (Juan) as well as 9 grandchildren: Brooklyn Myers, Kaelin and Mason Bemis, Savannah (Conner) Hayes, Robert and Mitchell Mauck and Ireland, London and Juan Irizarry and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20th from 4:00-5:00 PM with a funeral service directly following at Hudson Rimer Funeral Home in Edina MO. Interment will be at Edinburg Cemetery in Rural Scotland County. Memorials are suggested to Edinburg Cemetery or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
