Born in Hannibal, Missouri on January 21, 1985, he was the son of Jennifer Thomas and Rick Goodson.

On September 17, 2005 at the home of the bride's parents in Forest Springs, Missouri he married Erin Jean Bartz.

Joe attended Lewis County schools and was of the Christian faith. He was currently employed as a truck driver with the Newark Rock Quarry and had worked for Cardwell Lumber Company of Edina and Lumley Locker of LaBelle.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters of the home, Shelby Lynn and Kailey JoAnne Thomas; his parents, Rick Goodson and special friend Joyce Cauthon of Knox City, Missouri and Jennifer Thomas and special friend Calvin Pope of Palmyra, Missouri; grandparents, Elizabeth Franklin of Palmyra, Missouri, William C. Thomas of New London, Missouri, Charley Bob and Charlotte Tournear of LaBelle, Missouri, Larry and Doris Goodson of Knox City, Missouri; in-laws, Mark and Becky Bartz of Knox City, Missouri; brothers, Eric Clement and wife Brandi of Lewistown, Missouri, Heath See of LaBelle, Missouri, Chad See of Colony, Missouri; sister-in-law, Rachel Bartz and Donnie Strange of Knox City; brother-in-law, Tyler Bartz and Sabrina Parrish of Edina, Missouri; a special uncle, Sam Bartz of Knox City, Missouri and special niece and nephew, Olivia Clement and Evan See.

He was preceded in death by his brother Caleb Goodson.

Joe especially enjoyed cook-outs with family and friends, fishing, listening to his father and father-in-law play country music.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 2009 in the Coder Funeral Chapel with Reverend Doug Mahsman officiating. Burial will be in the Bondurant Cemetery northwest of LaBelle.

Visitation will be in the Coder Chapel from 4-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2009.
