Jessie Geraldine Walker, age 76, of Newark, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015, in the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
She was born November 9, 1938, in Newburg, IA the daughter of Carl Eugene and Edith Elmina Hanson Breeden.
She was united in marriage to Stevens Lee Walker on June 16, 1957, in LaBelle, MO and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2007. Geri was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Betty Simmons and Barbara Simmons and Lorene Petrie, one brother Harold Eugene Breeden and one half brother James Breeden.
Surviving are five children, David Walker of Newark, MO, Ricky Walker of Newark, MO, Melissa Marshall of Moberly, MO, Jennifer Walker of St. Louis, MO, and Tara Powers and husband Joe of Knox City, MO, eight grandchildren, Josiah, Sharayah, Canaan, Micah, and Jayden Marshall, Steven, Harley and Dylan Powers, one step granddaughter Brandi Johnson, two sisters Gladys Olsen of Oregon and Millie Jennings of Newark, MO, a sister-in-law Esther Breeden of Willow Springs, MO and a brother-in-law Bob Simmons of Edina, MO.
Geri received her education in rural Newark, MO. She and her husband lived most all of their life in the Newark area. She loved walking, bicycling, gardening, cross stitch and embroidery and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015, at the Newark Christian Church in Newark, MO. Reverend Anthony Boes will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Newark Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Josiah, Canaan and Micah Marshall, Steven Powers, Dennis Stiefel and Leonard Long.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015, with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in La Belle, MO.
