Obituary

Jerry J. Dawson, age 67, of Newark, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at his home in Newark.
He was born in Quincy, Illinois, on May 7, 1943, the son of Roy and Geraldine Darley Dawson. He was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Michel and two this union three children were born.
Surviving is his best friend Margaret Lee Hall of Newark, Missouri, three children, Tina Behrman and husband Jeff of Kirksville, Missouri, James Dawson and wife Jennifer of Donnellson, Iowa, and Gayla Sandstrom and husband Ray of Novinger, Missouri, one brother, Donald Dawson and wife Pam of LaBelle, Missouri, five grandchildren, Courtney Lynn, Elizabeth and Emily Dawson, Joseph Behrman and Christopher Sandstrom, one step grandson Kyle Behrman, aunt and uncle Francis and Pauline Dawson of Steffenville, Missouri, and two cousins Dennis and Larry Dawson. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry was a graduate of LaBelle High School. He was engaged in farming and construction work for several years and for the last twenty years he owned his own truck and rock hauling business. He was a member of the Newark Baptist Church, and LaBelle Masonic Lodge # 222. Jerry enjoyed Massey-Harris tractors, trap shooting and spending time with his friends and family especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri. Pastor Charles Sharpe will officiate the services. Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery. A recorded musical selection "Go Rest High On That Mountain" will be played.
Casket bearers will be Sonny Blaise, John Fisher, Rick Vancil, Robert Latimer, Carl Raine and Kenny Glover.
Honorary bearers will be Jesse Rogers, Daniel Bock, Dennis Brookhardt, Bob Peterson and Ronnie Buswell.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 8 p.m. in the Chapel conducted by LaBelle Lodge # 222 A.F. & A.M.
Memorials may be made to Air Evac or Heartland Resources at Ewing, Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, Missouri, 63447.
