Jay Newton Doran age 71 of Lake Ozark, MO passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Lake Regional Hospital in Lake Ozark, MO.
Born January 28, 1945 in Quincy, IL he was the son of J. N. and Dorice (Stith) Doran.
Surviving are his children James (Cindy) Doran of Smithville, MO and Rhonda (Steve) Henze of St. Charles, MO ; four grandsons, Trent and Tyler Doran, Adam and Chandler Henze; longtime companion Denise Feldkamp; three sisters, Donna Mabry of Chattanooga, TN, Laura Doran of Quincy, Cheri (Dino) Da Re of Strafford, MO; nieces and nephews, Russell Mabry of Knox City, MO, Jennifer Mabry of LA, Sarah (Garry) Weirather, Rita (Eric) Carper, Jason (Hillary) Little of Quincy; and several great nephews and nieces; aunts and an uncle, Norma Vahlkamp, Judy (Art) Bunte, Benny Stith; cousins, Tom (Barbara) Belding of Lexington, KY, Denise (Jeff) Grosvenor of Jefferson City, Denton (Debbie) Stith of Palmyra, Deanna (Roy) Shepard of Florida, Mark Bunte of Cincinnati, OH.
His parents preceded him in death.
Jay graduated from LaBelle High School, attended Culver Stockton College, and the University of Missouri. He served his country as a Sea Bee in the Vietnam war. He was engaged in farming most of his life until retirement south of LaBelle Missouri. He resided in Quincy, Kansas City and lastly at Lake Ozark, MO. He was a past member of the LaBelle Masonic Lodge and member of the Shriners. He was an avid Elvis fan, loved cars, enjoyed boating, motor cycling, trips to Sturgis, Las Vegas, and entertaining many friends at "The Shed" at the lake.
Services will be held 1 PM Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Coder Funeral Chapel, LaBelle, MO. Reverend Graig Connell will officiate the services. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at the LaBelle Cemetery, LaBelle MO.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Doran may be made to the Culver Stockton College - James and Arvilla Doran Washburn Scholarship Fund. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, MO 63447
