James Joseph Reardon, age 87, of Baring, MO, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, in the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, MO.

He was born March 14, 1931, near Baring, MO, the son of Joseph Michael and Ethel Elizabeth Dromey Reardon.  He was united in marriage to Barbara J. Glass on April 16, 1966 at Baring, MO and she preceded him in death on February 4, 1981.  He was then united in marriage to Martha J. Stauffer on January 12, 1985.

Surviving are his wife Martha Reardon of Baring, MO, two sons, David (Lena) Reardon of Novinger, MO, and John (Julie) Reardon of Kahoka, MO, two step children, Randy (Karen) Sade of Columbia, MO, and Nancy (Darrel) Schlichting of Troy, MO, one brother Jack (Nancy) Reardon of Edina, MO, two sisters Dorothy Gibbons of Edina, MO, and Mary Heimer of Cottonwood, Arizona, three grandchildren Emily, Eric and Vivian Reardon, two step grandchildren Michael and Nicholas Sade, and several nieces and nephews.  James was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Barbara, and two brother's-in-law, Pat Gibbons and Jerry Heimer.

James received his education in the Black rural elementary school and graduated from the Baring High School.  He was a lifelong resident of Knox County where he was engaged in farming west of Baring.  James served as the Western District County Commissioner for ten years.  He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church and a former member of the St. Aloysius Cemetery board.  James was a founding member of the Pioneer Rangers Saddle Club.  He was also a member of the Wilmathsville Wagon Masters Club and served on the Knox County Democratic Committee for several years.  He enjoyed Bluegrass music, horses and mules, the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with his grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018, at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Baring, MO.  Father Colin Franklin will officiate the services.  Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 26, 2018, after 4 p.m.   A Prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
