Herbert Nolan Fountain age 67, of Knox City, Missouri passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at his residence north of LaBelle, MO.
Born July 24, 1944 near Knox City in Knox County, MO he was the son of Nolan and Ruby Pearl Walker Fountain. On December 29, 1992 he was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Todd.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret of Knox City, MO; ten children, David Fountain and his wife, tin of Carroll County, IA, William Fountain and Annie Fountain both of Keokuk, IA, Tammy Fountain of Quincy, IL, Taylor Fountain and Natasha Burnett and her husband all of Keokuk, IA, Rico Abbey and Tyrone Todd both of Kirksville, MO, Kayla Abbey of Peoria, IL and Joseph Abbey of Quincy, IL; three brothers, Burbert Fountain of Rutledge, MO, Duane Fountain and wife, Betty of Edina, Mo and Don Fountain; one sister, Shirley Klocke and husband, Glen of Edina, MO; eighteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sammy.
Mr. Fountain was reared in Knox County, MO; he served his county in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Herbert was a man of many talents he was in residential construction, a farmer, worked for the telephone company with underground wiring, worked in road construction, as an electrician for several banks and as a painter. Herbert was also a gardener who liked to cook and can. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool and flea markets. He especially enjoyed his kids, grandkids and his dog, Sammy. Herbert was a member of Knox County V.F.W. Memorial Post #4822.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO with the Reverend Rex Link officiating. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service. Military honors will be held at the Colony Cemetery, Colony, MO following the funeral.
