Helen Ilene Edwards age 87 of LaBelle, MO formerly of Knox City, MO passed away Sunday night, June 17, 2012 at Hannibal Regional Medical Center in Hannibal, MO.
Born June 21, 1924 at Blue Mound, Kansas she was a daughter of Benjamin Theodore and Louise Marie Klocke Anderson. On April 21, 1945 in Knox City, MO she was united in marriage to Elvin Ray Edwards who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Kay Edwards of LaBelle, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Louise Goodin and Theodore Anderson, twins, Ruth McKenzie, William Anderson, Viola Dent and her twin sister, Hazel Bickel.
Mrs. Edwards was a school teacher for forty years. She taught in elementary school and special education at a country school, LaBelle and Steffenville schools. Helen was a dedicated farm wife who enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, flowers and reading. She played the piano and organ at church where she attended at the Knox City Methodist Church and then later at the Knox City Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Dewayne Wellborn will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Ed and Jeanne Anderson. Vocal selections will be "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".
Visitation will be held after 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2012 until the time of the service at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
Burial will be at the Millport Cemetery, south of Rutledge, MO. Casket bearers will be James Dent, Sherman Dent, Rev. Bob Gray, Larry Mitchell, Ed Anderson and Gary Waite.
