Hazel Daniel, age 84, of Palmyra, MO, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012, at her residence in Palmyra, MO.
She was born December 17, 1927, in Knox County, MO, the daughter of Bert and Sylvia Mathena Davis. She was united in marriage to Robert Lee Daniel on June 29, 1963, at Hull, IL, and he preceded her in death on May 16, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son David Daniel, four brothers, Virgil, Garland, Howard and Donald Davis and two sisters Deliah Davis and Dorothy Barrett.
Surviving are one daughter Rosemary Shaw of Palmyra, MO, six grandchildren, Laura Allen of Hunnewell, MO, Linda and Mike Bischel of Monroe City, MO, Angie and Thomas Spickard of Macon, MO, David Shaw II of Clarence, MO, Freddy Shaw of Kirksville, MO, Lindsey Daniel of Texas, ten great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Hazel grew up in Knox City, MO where she received her education in the White Oak Grade School and graduated from Knox City High School. She graduated from Beauty School in St. Louis, MO where she was employed as a hair dresser for several years. Hazel was also employed at Shaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison, IA, for several years, Motorola in Quincy, IL for 18 years and Gates Radio in Quincy, IL. Hazel loved sewing, people, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was the most amazing, sweetest, caring lady to everyone she knew.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. The Chaplin Jeff Vopel will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery.
Musical selections will be "Amazing Grace", "I Will Remember You", and "The Rose".
Casket bearers will be David Shaw II, Freddy Shaw, Thomas Spickard, Bill Davis, Steve Davis and Todd Goodwin.
Honorary bearers will be Logan Spickard, Larry Davis, Earl Daniel and Catherine Cooksy.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
