Obituary

Gary Dean Parish, of Keosauqua Iowa, formerly of Novelty Mo, passed away on Monday October 21st, 2019 at the Keosauqua Health Care Center. The son of Alva Lloyd and Viola (Stutsman) Parish, he was born on August 4, 1956 in Edina Missouri.

Gary is survived by two brothers and 3 sister-in-laws, Glennon and Jane Parish of Parsons, Ks., Ronnie and Pam Rourke of Vandalia, Mo, and Kay Parish of Columbia Mo; one sister, Velva Rourke of LaPlata Mo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; four brothers, Stephen Parish, David Parish, Fred Rourke, and Donnie Rourke; three sisters, Carroll Hoffman, Melissa Jo McGlothlin, and Phyllis Gordon; three brothers-in-law, Bruce Hoffman, Harold (Shorty) Gordon and Clinton Steele.

Gary Dean graduated from Knox County High School and served in the United States Navy for 9 years, stationed in Scotland and Diego Garcia from 1974 to1983, and then worked an additional 9 years for a defense contractor. Upon returning to Edina he owned and operated a computer repair store before retiring due to health reasons.

Gary enjoyed working on computers; learning and talking about history, especially military history; traveling, much of which he did when in the military with one of his favorite trips being going through the English Channel on his way to the Netherlands; and reading, especially the Bible. Gary served as a deacon and was a member of the Keosauqua Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Locust Hill Cemetery near Novelty, Missouri.
