Fred L. Lilyard, age 95, of Lewistown, MO passed away June 28, 2023, in Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown MO.

He was born in Knox County, IL on August 8th, 1927, the son of Harold & Norma May Switzer Lilyard.

Fred grew up working with his father and brothers farming. He was an avid fisherman & enjoyed many fishing trips with his sister and brothers. He loved watching trains and sitting along the Mississippi river.  Fred learned to water ski and spent many days doing that with brother Monte.

On December 4th, 1945, Fred joined the army, at Ft Sill OK. In Feb.1946 sent to Brazil 1103d AAF Base Unit.  He was an M.P.  Air Traffic Control, assist to civilian police, military prison guard, and evaluation of prisoners.  He enjoyed the dance club with his favorite girl, Cookie!

He earned the WW11 Victory Medal and returned to farming as PFC.

Fred is survived by his special "adopted" daughter, Deb Hiepler & husband Don and his many "adopted" grandchildren of Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Kermit, twins, Monte & Lonnie & sister Nancy June Lilyard.

Fred will be cremated and a memorial service will be held July 22, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the LaBelle Cemetery with full Military Honors.
