Emma Evelyn Patterson, age 83, of Lewistown, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, Missouri.
She was born January 25, 1927, in Scotland County, Missouri, the daughter of Dee Rollin and Jennie Idell Dalton Pierce.
She was united in marriage to Arley Patterson on December 23, 1946, at Kirksville, Missouri and he preceded her in death on November 19, 1977.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Alan Ray and Arley Dee Patterson, one granddaughter E.B. Webb, one sister Opal Pierce Smith, two brothers Gene Pierce and Dee Pierce, Jr.
Surviving are six children, Sandra Patterson of Ewing, Missouri, Bonnie Patterson of Lewistown, Missouri, Mary Patterson Conger and husband Ron of Whiteside, Missouri, Diane Patterson of Lewistown, Missouri, Richard Patterson of Lewistown, Missouri, Suzie Patterson of Hannibal, Missouri, one brother Ronnie Dean Pierce and wife Patricia of Ewing, Missouri, thirteen grandchildren, Janie Sigler, Chris Foute, Tammy Vahle, Angel Libby, Dawn Sparrow, Tracy Conger, Avery Patterson, Kris Wheeler, Alisa Patterson, Staggerly Patterson, Welcome Patterson, Jacob Benjamin, Samantha Benjamin, twenty eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was raised in the Bible Grove community where she received her education graduating from Bible Grove High School. Since 1962 she has resided in the Lewistown area where she was employed as a cook at Prarie View Nursing Home and later Country Aire Retirement Estates until retiring in 2000. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, cards, board games and spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Mike Wilson will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Bible Grove Cemetery.
Musical selections will be On The wings Of A Dove, I.O.U., Fluff, and Please Release Me.
Casket bearers will be Mary Conger, Richard Patterson, Suzie Patterson, Diane Patterson, Bonnie Patterson, Sandy Patterson, Ronnie Conger, Tracey Conger, Rusty Patterson, Clyde Patterson, Jerry Patterson, Steve Benjamin and Welcome Patterson.
Honorary bearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till time of services at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
