Elizabeth Mae Durk of Palmyra formerly of Bethel, Missouri passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, Missouri.
Born May 5, 1931 in Quincy, Illinois she was a daughter of Chester and Maudie Vincent Justus.
On May 5, 1948 at Quincy, Illinois she was united in marriage to James William Durk, Sr. and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2009.
Surviving are nine children, James Durk, Jr. and wife Pat of Quincy, Illinois, Pat Fox and husband Joe of Copperaus Cove, Texas, Sandy Begley and husband Ed of Palmyra, Missouri, Mike Durk and Robert Durk of Bethel, Missouri, David Durk of Newark, Missouri, Mary Davis and husband, Dirk of Palmyra, Missouri, Brenda Elliott and husband, Duane of Palmyra, Missouri and Tim Durk and wife Carol of Rolla, Missouri; 32 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Durk was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Gregg Fox and a great granddaughter, Mia Durk.
Mrs. Durk was a devoted homemaker to her family. Betty lived in Bethel, Missouri with her husband of sixty-one years. Upon his death she moved to Palmyra, Missouri. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. She loved the Lord. Betty was a member of the Mt. Sinai Christian Church of many years. She was also a member of the Mission Hill Baptist Church of Palmyra and the Steffenville Women's Bible Study. Her interests also included being a member of the Rural Electric Association.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri. Reverend Jerry Kaser and Reverend Kent Lewis. Music will be provided by the Mission Hillers; singing "The Old Rugged Cross", "In The Garden", "I'll Fly Away, "On The Wings of A Dove" and "Church In The Wildwood".
Visitation will be after 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. at the Coder Funeral Chapel at LaBelle, Missouri.
Burial will be at the LaBelle Cemetery, LaBelle, Missouri. Casket bearers will be Josh Davis, Zach Davis, Matt Durk, Andrew Durk, Billy Meyer, Tim Durk, Terry Durk and Jason Tallman. Honorary bearers will be Shane Yakes, Will Clay, Kevin Fox, Nick Smith, Justin Begley and Mike Pokora.
