Edna Lindsey, age 87, of Newark, Missouri, passed Saturday, January 24, 2009, at her residence west of Newark, Missouri.
She was born July 26, 1921, at Clinton, North Carolina, the daughter of Paul and Nancy Faircloth Britt.
On October 18, 1951, she was united in marriage to James M. Lindsey.
Surviving are her husband James of Newark, Missouri, one daughter Betty Jean Ream and husband Lawrence of Sedalia, Missouri, one sister, Catherine Starling and husband William of Clinton, North Carolina, one granddaughter, Lindsey Lee Ream and several nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Nancy Lee Lindsey and two brothers, Paul and William David Britt.
Edna was raised at Clinton, North Carolina. She graduated from High School at Warsaw, North Carolina and attended three years at Eastern Carolina Teachers College.
Edna was employed for the government in Washington, D.C. and later transferred to St. Louis, Missouri, where she met her husband Jim. After their marriage they moved to their present farm west of Newark, Missouri.
Edna enjoyed hunting, gardening, blue grass music and was delighted when her only granddaughter was born.
She loved working with her husband on their farm and helping her husband in putting up over 2 million Christmas Lights she and her husband displayed for over 13 years.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2009, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Hillis Prather will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Mt. Salem Cemetery.
Music will be provided by Dr. Glenn and Anna Browning.
Casket bearers will be Vance Parrish, Bob Simmons, Darrell Simmons, Larry Simmons, Jimmy Lindsey, and Faren Lindsey.
Honorary bearers will be Frank Lonberger, Eugene Wollam, Dr. Glenn Browning and Kermit Hyatt.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, Edina, Missouri.
