Earl Lewis Maltbie, Jr. age 98 of Jefferson City Missouri formally of Hurdland Missouri passed away unexpectedly Tuesday October, 1st 2024 at SSM Health St Mary's hospital in Jefferson City Missouri.
Earl was born November 10th 1925 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Earl Lewis Maltbie, Sr. and Katherine Heathman Maltbie. He was united in marriage to Neva Irene Strait on February 21, 1948, in Edina, Missouri and she proceeded him in death on October 9th 2012. Earl was also preceded in death by his parents one daughter, Sandra Jo Maltbie, one grandson, Corey Adam Eiler and one sister, Laura Lou Moore.
Surviving are his love, Erika Roos, three children, Kathy Sue Hampton of Houston, TX, Earl Lewis Maltbie, III, of Hurdland, MO, and Joyce Ann Sutton (James) of Unionville, MO six grandchildren, Terry Eiler of Norwalk, IA, Isaiah and DaMar Hampton of Houston, TX, Curtis (Alexis) Sutton and Albert Sutton of Marshall, MO, Laura (Gerald) McClellan of Slater, MO, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Earl attended school in Brashear, MO. He served this country during World War II and the Korean war, in the Army Air Corps and Air Force from 1944 to 1946, re-enlisted and served from 1950 to 1951. Earl owned and operated Earl's Jewelry in Kirksville, MO for several years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 9, 2024 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate the service. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F Cemetery Hurdland, MO.
Casket bears will be Terry Eiler, Earl Maltbie, III, Isaiah Hampton, Marty Sykes, Christian Petke, and James Sutton.
