Obituary

Douglass Wayne Rowlison, age 62, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away Friday April 15, 2016, at the Chesapeake Regional Hospital.
Douglass was born September 4, 1953 at Kirksville, Mo, the son of Ernie Ernest and Bonnie Hayden Rowlison, one of five children.
Douglass was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Michael Rowlison. Surviving are two sisters, Neta Stephens, husband Gary of Chesapeake, VA., and Marsha Rowlison of Haslet, TX., one brother Kendall Rowlison and wife Deborah of St. Peters, Mo., two nephews, John Stephens and Mitchell Rowlison and one niece, Tricia Rowlison.
After graduating from Knox County High School Douglass attended college at University of Missouri Columbia for one year. Douglass then joined and served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1976. After his military service he attended Northern Virginia Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Fire Science. Douglass graduated Summa Cum Laude. Douglass worked as a Firefighter/Paramedic and retired from the Alexandria Virginia Fire Department, Fire Station 204 after 25 years of service. His station was the first on site at the U. S. Pentagon attack on 9/11. After retiring from the fire department he spent several years working part time for the REI outdoor clothing company. Douglass was a distance runner and he also enjoyed kayaking and hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Douglass was also a member of the Donate Life America organization.
Burial will be held at a later date in the Linville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
