Dorothy Helen Tripp age 85 of Knox City, MO, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Born October 5, 1928 she was a daughter of Arthur Ellsworth Snelling and Ada Lena Goodwin Snelling. On April 11, 1954 in Kirksville, MO, she was united in marriage to Ray Virgil Tripp, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 19, 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Helen Mae Sullivan of Kirksville, MO; one son, Ray Tripp, Jr. of Knox City, MO; three grandchildren: Melissa Ann Sullivan of Kirksville, MO; Nikolette Xylinda Tripp of Kirksville, MO and Michael Ray Tripp also of Kirksville, MO.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Vernabelle Snelling and one brother, Johnnie Edwin Snelling.
Mrs. Tripp attended Vice Rural School and the Knox City High School where she received her education. She resided her whole life on the same family farm northwest of Knox City, MO. Dorothy was employed until her marriage at the Burnham Glove Factory in Edina, MO.
She was a member of the Edina Baptist Church. Dorothy was devoted to caring for other loved ones. She volunteered her time and frequently gave to charities. She loved her pets and animals in general. Mrs. Tripp enjoyed meeting people, reading, gardening, canning, listening to the radio and keeping up with current news events. Dorothy especially enjoyed Sundays with her family and dining out to try new cuisine.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, MO. The services will be officiated by Reverend Doug Wilson. A eulogy will be given by Nikolette Tripp, her granddaughter.
Musical selections will be "In The Garden", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".
Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Northeast of Edina, MO.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013 until the time of services at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
