Donald Robert Lindsey, age 76 of Newark, MO, passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, at his home in Newark, MO. He was born April 26, 1935, near Newark, MO, the son of Robert McFadden and Eula Marie Latimer Lindsey.
He was united in marriage to Trella Yvonne Kemp and to this union two sons were born. On March 18, 1972, he was united in marriage to Donna Lee Platz at Brashear, MO and she preceded him in death on August 8, 1988. Donald was also preceded in death by his parents and one son Maurice Ray Lindsey.
Surviving are one son Terry Lindsey of Newark, MO, two twin daughters, Rita and Anita Lindsey of Newark, MO, one sister, Lotis Wiseman and husband James of Knox City, MO, three grandchildren, Roland Lindsey of LaPlata, MO, Erica McLin and husband Guy of Atlanta, MO, and Levi Lindsey of Newark, MO, two great grandchildren, Matthew and Lucy Lindsey and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donald was a lifelong resident of Newark area where he was employed with Kelly Lime and Rock for many years. He received his education Newark and Edina Schools. Donald was the first fire chief at Newark Fire Department. He was a big supporter of any Newark event. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Pastor Jesse Rogers will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Newark Cemetery. Music will be provided by Martha Marie Huse, soloist and Carol Hayes, organist. Musical selections will be "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". Casket bearers will be David Michel, Larry Burke, Eldon Corrick, Ronnie Buswell, Bill Gosney, and Larry Henderson.
Honorary bearers will be Robert Latimer, Mackie Johnston, Bill Hayes, Dennis Brookhart, Larry McKinney, and Terry Buswell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011, after 4 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer funeral Home in Edina, MO.
