David Wayne Clay, age 59, of Lewistown, MO, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013, in Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, MO.
He was born at Canton, MO on February 8, 1953, the son of Harold and Floretta Tate Clay, Sr.
He is survived by his mother Floretta Clay of Canton, MO, three sons, Lamont Jones and his wife of Springfield, IL, Delbert Bragg of Iowa and Earl Langford of Pekin, IL, four brothers Harold Clay Jr. and wife Cindy of Bettendorf, IA, Virgil Clay and wife Hattie of Springfield, IL, Larry Clay and wife Sandy of Keokuk, IA, and Wilbert Clay and wife Christy of Palmyra, MO, five sisters, Elaine Clay of Canton, MO, Kay Clay of LaBelle, MO, Sue Sharp of LaBelle, MO, Ella Clay and husband Roy of LaBelle, MO, and Charlene Coleman of LaBelle, MO, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
David received his education in LaBelle graduating from LaBelle High School. He lived most of his life in Springfield, IL, where he was employed as a truck driver. For a brief time he lived in LaBelle where he was employed with LaBelle Manor Care Center. David enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in LaBelle, MO.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2012, in the Mount Olive Baptist Church in LaBelle, MO, under the direction of the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Pastor Melva Johnson and Pastor James Salter will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Reba Sharp, soloist and Ottie Lewis, organist singing "Precious Lord" along with selections by the Mount Olive Baptist Church Choir.
