David Charles Baker age 84 of Knox City, Missouri passed away Monday night, November 21, 2011 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri.
Born March 9, 1927 near Knox City, Missouri, he was the son of Fred and Grace Dyer Baker.
On September 4, 1949 he was united in marriage to Carmelita Runquist and she preceded him in death on July 26, 1996. In 2002 he married Naomi Clair Runquist and she also preceded him in death. Other deceased family members include two sisters, Noema Baker and Daisy Queen and two brothers, Clarence and Leonard Baker and one great-granddaughter, Harper Lee Baker.
Surviving are three sons: Ron Baker and wife, Annette of New London, MO, Charles Baker and wife, LeVon Baker of LaBelle, MO and Vernon Baker and wife, Amanda of Lynn Center, IL; four step-children: Steve Runquist, Billie Dean Runquist, Cheryl Adair and Crystal Cutforth; twelve grandchildren: Carlos Shipley and wife, Nancy; Yessica Peck and husband, Thomas; Jennifer Ball & husband, Jimmy; Rachael Baker, Jeremy Baker & wife Chrissy; Carmen Cuni and husband, Ben; Sara Baker, Hannah Baker, David Baker, Susan Schnook and husband, Mark; Chris Crandall and Jenna Baker, twenty great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren; two sisters: Mabel Bert of Overland Park, KS; Lorena Fleak of Lewistown, MO and two brothers, Glen Baker of Chillicothe, MO and Lawrence Baker of Downing, MO.
David was engaged in farming on the family farm northwest of Knox City, MO. He had also been employed by the Knox County Road and Bridge Crew and drove a gravel truck. David was a dedicated member of the Knox City Assembly of God Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, fishing, and for a number of years he had ponies that he showed in area county fairs. He also had a liking for goats. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Mike Rash and Reverend Mike Wilson will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery at Knox City, MO. Casket bearers will be Jennifer Ball, Thomas Peck, Jason Runquist, Jeremy Baker, Sara Baker and David Baker.
Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2001 with family greeting friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. An expression of sympathy in memory of David Baker may be made to the Knox City Assembly of God Church or to the Country Aire Retirement Estates.
