IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarece Elaine
Pape
May 26, 1948 – August 28, 2020
Clarece E. Pape, 72, of Knox City, Missouri, passed away at home on Friday August 28, 2020. Clarece was the oldest daughter of Clarence (Cotton) McCarty and Mary (Shepard) McCarty, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers, Paul and Becky McCarty of Knox City, William and Kathy McCarty of Maywood, and her sister Patti McCarty of Union, Missouri. Clarece is also survived by her three children, William and Kimberly Troutt of Germantown Hills, Illinois, Tammy and Gordon Dromey of Edina, and Gary Sykes, Jr. of Hurdland, and her five grandchildren, Katie and Scott Deunk of Hazelwood, Missouri, Kelsey Troutt and Kerri Troutt of Germantown Hills, IL, Hope Dromey of Knox City and Shauni Sykes of Hurdland. She is also survived by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Clarece was a 1966 graduate of Knox County High School. She was a homemaker for the majority of her early adult life and later worked alongside her late husband, Dwight, in the auto recycling business for a number of years.
Clarece was a woman of great fortitude. She first faced breast cancer in the middle 1990's, followed by bouts with renal (kidney) cancer, bladder cancer, another round of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, brain cancer, lung cancer, and another round of renal cancer. The last five cancers were discovered after a perforated ulcer in March of 2019.
After GOD trying to get Clarece's attention for many years, she finally gave her heart to Jesus in the fall of 2019 and attended church in Knox City as her health would allow. She spent many hours watch Joyce Meyers and Kenneth Copeland and grew deeper in her faith during this time.
Clarece loved spending time with her family, friends and her animals, mainly her cats, which she remembered the name of each one to her last days. She also was looking forward to the end of the COVID situation to be able to go out and eat and have someone wait on her for a change.
A celebration of life will be held in the lawn area of the Assembly of GOD Church in Knox City on Saturday September 5th at 10am. Please bring a lawn chair to the celebration, which will allow for social distancing for those who choose to do so.
