Obituary

Chester William Grainger, age 84 of Canton, MO, formerly of Ewing and Knox County, MO, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011, in the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, MO.
He was born April 27, 1927, in rural Baring, MO, the son of Andrew Gunion and Maude Opal Boring Grainger.
Chester lived all his life in Scotland, Knox and Lewis Counties. He farmed in partnership with his brother Robert Lee Grainger. He served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are two nephews, Larry Stone and wife Annie of Knox City, MO, and Gary James Stone and wife Pam of LaGrange, MO. Chester was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Stone and Opal Boone, and one brother Robert Lee Grainger.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011, after 9 a.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery west of Greensburg, MO. Reverend Doug Wilson will officiate the services. Military honors will be conducted at the Cemetery by Cyril Graham American Legion Post # 261 and Knox County Memorial Post # 4822 V.F.W.
Casket bearers will Leon Moots, Bob Ward, Pete Mayfield, Richard Witherow, Cletus Stone, Pat Powell, Matt Kearns and Jim Stovall.
Memorials in memory of Chester Grainger may be made to Lewis County Nursing Home. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box1, Edina, Missouri, 63537.
