Betty Carol Goodwin, age 87 of Knox City, MO passed away August 8, 2024, in Baring, MO. She was born September 9, 1936, in Colony, MO the daughter of James Raymond and Josephine McMurry.
She was united in marriage to Robert Gene "Newt" Goodwin on May 1, 1955, in Knox City, MO and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2005. Betty was also preceded by her parents, one grandson Dillon Joseph Redding, two sisters Marjorie Pearl and Doris Jean Fetters, one brother James Richard McMurry, and two nephews Kent & Kerry Brooks.
Surviving are four children, Jeanne Carol (Randy) Shaver of Brashear, MO, Robert Eugene Goodwin of Newark, MO, Dennis James (Christy) Goodwin of LaBelle, MO, and Pamela Sue (Randy) Redding of Baring, MO, nine grandchildren Joshua Goodwin, Jeremy Shaver, Joseph Shaver, Emily Shaver, Cheyanne Hemmerling, Dana Goodwin, Jamie Stivers, Ashley Boettcher and Chelsea Redding, nine great grandchildren, Dalainey Marie Pflum, Swayde William Pflum, Kinley Hemmerling, Asher E. Hemmerling, Austyn Goodwin, Archer Goodwin, Bridger Farley, Kailey Josephine Goodwin, Anden James Goodwin, and one great-great grandchild Xailiana Jones.
Betty attended school in Colony, MO and helped her dad on the farm. Most of her life she lived in Knox City, MO where she was a homemaker and baby sat for families. She was also employed with Heartland Resources. Betty enjoyed gardening, canning and made the best lime pickles in the world. She enjoyed deer hunting and working the deer up and also spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Pastor Danielle Bair will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Joshua Goodwin, Jeremy Shaver, Joe Shaver, Damon Hemmerling, Coy Farley and Shane Witherow.
