Obituary
Anna Lois Rogers, age 91, of Kirksville, MO formerly of Knox County passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, in McAllen, TX.
She was born February 8, 1925, at Novelty, MO, the daughter of Parker and Leta Jane Wilson Newkirk.
She was united in marriage to Carroll Leroy Rogers on December 27, 1944, at Knox City, MO.
Anna is survived by her husband, Carroll L. Rogers of Kirksville, Missouri; a daughter, Linda Carol Rogers Leykamp of Alamo, Texas; a son, Lester Steven Rogers and wife Rhonda Lynn Parsons Rogers of New Braunfels, Texas; four grandchildren; Leslie Michele Leykamp Danford and her husband Russell Graham Danford of Marietta GA, Mark Steven Leykamp of Dallas TX, Todd Michael Leykamp of Burbank CA, Robyn Lynn Rogers Trotty and her husband Christopher George Trotty of Houston TX, two great-grandchildren; Anna Sophia Danford and Nicholas Graham Danford of Marietta GA, a brother, Thomas Parker Newkirk and his wife Barbara Jane Bailey Newkirk of Sonora, TX, a sister, Katharine Newkirk Bieberle Blair of Fort Smith, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents Parker and Leta Newkirk and one son Lee Edward Rogers in 2006.
Anna was raised in Novelty, MO where she received her education graduating from Novelty High School in 1943. Anna and Carroll were engaged in farming in the Novelty community. After retiring from their family farm they moved to Kirksville, MO and had enjoyed wintering in Alamo, TX. Anna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kirksville, El Kadir Shrine Club Jewels, the Ladies of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and the American Legion Post 290 at Novelty MO.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, in the Novelty Cemetery. Reverend Jim Robinson will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 12 noon till time of graveside services at 2 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital and may be made to or left at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, Mo, 63537.
